Dr. Bruce MacFarland, Ph.D., has been a pioneer in the areas of nutrition, holistic health and research for over 35 years. In 1963, Dr. MacFarland founded Medical Diet Service, Inc. MDS was a health program designed to educate men and women about cutting edge nutrition concepts through individual consultation and controlled portion meal design. The nutrition philosophies delivered in 1963 proved to be sound to this day. The MDS nutrition plan concept was a forerunner to the emerging category of weight reduction programs.      Preliminary investigation confirmed that progesterone deficiency and imbalance could lead to a host of physiological and psychological ailments. Based on collaborative research with a colleague, Dr. MacFarland formulated a topical progesterone cream, Pro-Gest. After four years of test marketing with his Medical Diet Service patients, he introduced the product to the professional health care community in 1978. The cream continues to be used by more than twenty five million women with remarkable success to control premenstrual syndrome, menopausal vasomotor flushes.      In 1992, Dr. MacFarland turned his company over to his daughter because he wanted to develop a line of skin products for more general use by women.
